How to Maintain Vaginal Hygiene
How to Maintain Vaginal Hygiene
Even though natural and odorless is the ideal smell for your vagina, it isn’t always the case. There are times when the smell of your vagina might change a little or get stronger depending on what you eat or how active you are. This could be a sensitive topic to talk about but trust us, it’s common! The good thing is that maintaining your vaginal hygiene is easy. If you’re one of those that think having a stinky vagina is embarrassing and unhygienic, read on to know more about vag hygiene and some simple tips on how to keep it fresh at all times.

What is vaginal hygiene?

Vaginal hygiene is the practice of keeping the area around your vagina clean and healthy. If you have a healthy vagina, you are less likely to experience vaginal infections, smell from your vagina, and have pain during sex. Maintaining vaginal hygiene will also help prevent the risk of STIs like HIV, HPV, and even reduce your risk of getting pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Practicing good vaginal hygiene will also help decrease the risk of vaginal discomfort, itching, burning, and other symptoms that go along with bacterial infections. You can think of it like this––your vagina is like a sponge that needs to be squeezed out from time to time. You want to make sure that you are washing regularly and getting rid of any built-up bacteria that may cause your vagina to smell.

Why is maintaining vaginal hygiene important?

Your vaginal hygiene isn’t just important for your hygiene, it’s important for your health, too. A healthy vagina will help you avoid infections and other unpleasant symptoms! Washing with warm water and a mild cleanser won’t just help you avoid infections; it’ll also help you avoid odor. And if there are any odor-causing bacteria, you’ll remove them with the warm water. You should also change your underwear regularly to avoid any moisture and bacteria from building up in your underwear. In addition to that, you should be eating lots of probiotic foods, which will help restore your vaginal flora and strengthen your immune system. These are just a few of the many benefits of maintaining your vaginal hygiene.

Shower and dry your privates

The first thing you should do when you get out of the shower is to dry your vagina and the rest of your privates. The best way to do this is to use a clean towel, not your hand! The towels will help get rid of any moisture, especially if you’re prone to sweating. If you want to avoid any bacterial growth in your vagina, you should use a clean washcloth or a special wash that is free from fragrances, alcohol, and other harsh chemicals. When drying your vagina, be sure not to use scented products. Fragrances can irritate and inflame vaginal tissue, leading to an unpleasant odor. When drying your labia, avoid using a washcloth, as it could lead to irritation, especially if you’re prone to sensitive skin. Instead, use your hands. Your labia are sensitive and prone to irritation. So, make sure you’re gentle when drying, wiping, or cleaning your vaginal area.

Use a tampon and apply suppositories every once in a while

If you’re prone to a little bit of vaginal discharge, you can consider using a tampon or a vaginal suppository that has baking soda to help get rid of any odor. Do this once in a while, especially if you know you’re going to go out or need to go out on a date or something like that. There are special sprays or washes that you can use to clean your vagina. Some of them have an antifungal or antibacterial agent that will help protect you. However, not all of them are safe for your health. Make sure you’re reading the ingredients before buying a product. You can also use plain water to wash your vagina. Every once in a while, you can also consider using a feminine wash or a gentle, fragrance-free soap. But remember to use it sparingly.

Use natural and fragrance-free products for your vagina

Don’t use chemicals or harsh soaps that might irritate your skin or vagina. You want to make sure that you are using a product that is free from parabens, SLS, and fragrances. Fragrances are often made with synthetic ingredients that can irritate your vagina, especially if you have sensitive skin. You want to make sure that the products you use on your vagina are natural and free from harmful chemicals. Stay away from scented products and choose unscented products instead, especially if you know you’re prone to having an irritated vagina. If you’re having a hard time finding unscented products, look at the ingredients list to find out if a product is scented or not. If it contains ingredients like “fragrance” or “parfum,” it is likely to have a scent.

Walk, run, or exercise regularly

Regular exercise helps keep your body healthy, including your reproductive organs. Exercising regularly can also help reduce your risk of developing certain types of cancers as well as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. These are a few reasons why you should consider exercising regularly. When you exercise, you help your body release endorphins, which are chemicals that can relieve pain, lower your stress levels, and improve your mood. And when you feel good, you can maintain your vaginal hygiene better! When you walk, run, or exercise regularly, you help your body expel toxins, which are responsible for causing vaginal odor. Exercising regularly can also help regulate your menstrual cycle. This can help prevent cramps and reduce the severity of your period.

The best way to maintain your vaginal hygiene is to be proactive about it. You should be washing your vagina every day and making sure that there aren’t any bacteria or buildup in the area. You should also be changing your underwear regularly and wearing breathable fabrics like cotton. If you’re having problems with odor, you can also try some of the tips listed above. Now that you’re more aware of how a healthy vagina can benefit you, it’s time to start practicing good vaginal hygiene. From eating a balanced diet to walking for exercise, there are many ways to keep your vagina healthy and clean. So, what are you waiting for?
