Women in their 50s feel amazing when they are aligned with who they are, what they want and how they can be the most impactful version of themselves. They feel amazing when they love themselves, have a great self-regard and have built a strong self-identity. They also feel amazing when they love their bodies as much at 50 as they did at 25. Women in their fifties often struggle to find balance between being independent and being vulnerable. This is an age where women begin to know themselves better than ever before which is both a blessing and curse. Here are some ideas on how you can make yourself feel amazing in your fifties:
Take time for yourself.
Taking time for yourself can mean many different things, so allow this to evolve as you get older. If meditation is your thing then do more of it, otherwise do something that gives you a sense of relaxation and peace. For some this can be reading, gardening, cooking or even watching a good movie. Whatever it is, make sure you have time for yourself each week to recoup and reflect. Your time for self is essential for your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Cultivate a strong sense of self.
As you get older, you might find that you start to drift away from who you are. You might have been in a relationship for some time, be a parent, have a full-time job or be managing various responsibilities. A change in your life circumstances or even an accumulation of changes can cause you to lose touch with who you really are. To avoid this, you must cultivate a strong sense of self. This means spending time each day just being you. It might mean journaling, meditating, doing something creative or exercising. Whatever you choose to do, it is important to keep a strong connection to yourself.
Start living the life you want to live.
You've spent 50 years living your life, now is the time to start living the life you want to live. This means being true to who you are, what you want and what makes you feel good. It's about being authentic and not needing to please others. It's about knowing what you are here for and what your purpose is. It's about being in a loving, fulfilling relationship with yourself so you can have loving, fulfilling relationships with others. Enjoy the present and plan your future, knowing that you are worthy of everything and anything you can dream of.
Get your body in top condition.
Your body is your home for life, so take care of it. Be mindful of what you put in it, how much you move it and how you look after it. You don't need to be at your fittest and healthiest ever, but being conscious of your health, both internally and externally, is important. If you eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly, you will feel better about yourself and your body. You will also reduce your risk of certain diseases, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Exercise is an important part of everyone's health, but it is especially important if you are middle-aged or older.
Don't be afraid to ask for what you want and need.
As you get older, you might feel more vulnerable and less able to ask for what you want and need. You might fear that you'll be seen as needy, or you might worry about what others will think about you if you ask for what you want. Remember, you are an adult, and you have a right to ask for what you want and need. If you want to see a certain doctor, say something you are feeling and ask for support, take time out or whatever you need, do it. You don't need to be afraid or ashamed to ask for what you want and need.
You are still YOU at 50, so love and adore yourself!
You are beautiful in your own way, flaws and all. You are strong, determined and resilient. You have learned, grown and experienced so much over the last five decades, and you have a lifetime of knowledge and wisdom within you. Keep loving yourself, caring for yourself, speaking up for yourself and being your amazing self. You are still you at 50, so love, adore and respect yourself!
